During my time at Purdue (2006-2010), Jake's was a staple Purdue place. Good food, though not amazing service, but I was never disappointed. As pointed out in numerous other reviews, this place really shines after 10 on the weekends, but get ready to deal with an incredibly huge and sometimes downright impossible crowd. The best nights at Purdue usually began at Jake's; get a table earlier in the evening, and then hang out for an hour or so. Then make your way over to the other chauncey hill/Northwestern bars for the time of your life! Also, just to note, this place is a completely different atmosphere during the week, so feel free to stop by for lunch or whatever and not feel like you are in an insane Big 10 college bar.

I love Jake's: the spaciousness, the trivia night, the decent prices. However, the service can be fairly slow and the bartender has been rude on multiple occasions to my friends. The food is what you'd expect at a bar: greasy and a bit salty, but satisfying after your 2nd or 3rd beer.

This place's business has taken a real dive the past couple years. It used to be absolutely packed on weekends and certain week nights, but now even some weekend nights it's a ghost town by midnight. This has caused them to close pretty early the last two times I was there, before 2 AM. I hope Jake's stays open, because I can't figure out why they're losing so many customers. Their food is standard bar fare, about what you'd expect. The pizza is above-average. Their drink specials are some of the best on campus, and their bartenders tend to pour pretty strong. Also respect to their bartenders for only throwing me out twice in the years I've been going there, I've deserved it more often than that. I have more and better memories here than any other campus bar, and I'll be going again this weekend to help support it. Long live Jake's!
